Many Moose Family Homes and Lodges have found that they were in rough seas in past years. We are one of the fortunate when our seas were rough as a life preserver was thrown and we survived. Our survival left us without a Moose Home or Lodge but luckily, we had resources left on our Life Raft.

After a year or two drifting, we found our new home, except it didn’t look like a Moose home, but it had potential. Next we knew, our fabulous team of members drew up a workable plan that would “gut” the building and build it the way they thought would be more functional.

The sun shined and the sawdust flew as the volunteers were too numerous and came with badly needed skill sets. We would all find that with their skills, things began to take shape. The Ladies of the WOTM painted, cleaned and painted and cleaned and painted while the men did the building and construction - creating social quarter bars, TV stands, cabinets, shelving and also made new stations for the ritual team.

None of this was easy, however the hearts of every moose member were into the project and before we knew it, the Lodge came together; not only as a building, but the camaraderie that comes with being involved in something you did yourself with your brothers and co-workers each pitching in. Needless to say, closeness came about and the pride of “building our own lodge” brought all a new sense of pride when we opened our doors in the spring of this year.

High Point Lodge 693 is an example and also an inspiration that proves you can create your own miracle when you have a determined team of Moose Members who believe in our Fraternity and each other as we face challenges. It’s not just leadership that gets a job done, but the interest and talent of each member who helped create the Miracle of building not only a building, but friendships which will last thru-out eternity. Well done my brothers and sisters of the High Point Lodge – YOU MADE THE MIRACLE!
